Links-style Sea Pines Golf Course has hazards on almost every hole. Certainly one of the most challenging courses in Hua Hin, is a true risk and reward golf course. It attracts many visitors for its attractive layout and pleasant spectacular ocean views.
Created by the Royal Thai Army in 2010 as a retreat for soldiers, veterans and their families.
Ten years later, the hotel chain Dusit Thani takes over the management at Sea Pine golf course and the two hotels in Suan Son Pradiphat.
Seapine in its best condition will be in 2nd or 3rd place of the Hua Hin golf courses. Black Mountain is not possible to beat, but Banyan must watch out if Dusit Thani delivers. Unfortunately, the condition in recent years has only been moderate, so the first task is to get better than Springfield and Palm Hills.
Down the stretch, the sea breeze become a factor and the last three holes are among the most memorable golf holes anywhere.
Hole 16 is a par five dogleg that requires a drive to a narrow downhill landing area with water looming on both sides. Golfers look down at the hole for their second shot with a panoramic view of the ocean and the mountains. The toughest part of this hole is the approach shot. A player has to decide whether to play over the water onto a sloping green or take a conservative route via the left side of the fairway.
The signature 17th hole is a par three with a spectacular ocean view backdrop. The tee shot is all carry over water to a wide undulating green protected by beach sand front and rear. The key here may be to attack the front pins but play to the center of the green otherwise, depending on the wind as you make your decision facing the large lake and peninsula green.
The par four finishing hole is among the most difficult on the course. A canal poses a major hazard that requires golfers to drive 220 yards over water to reach the fairway. A safe lay-up approach with a fairway wood is an available option for conservative players.
The magnificent clubhouse offers great views of the sea. Here you can enjoy great Thai food at nice prices.
